Why Aria Suites for a honeymoon

Aria Suites is the five-suite alternative for honeymoon couples on a more disciplined budget. The property is in Fira, the island's capital and the only village with a working town centre rather than a tourist-only main square. Five cave suites cut into the cliff just below the Fira footpath, each with its own outdoor terrace and partial caldera view; the upper suite has a private plunge pool. Aria is run by the same family that has owned the property for three generations and the staff-to-guest ratio is unusually high (five rooms, three full-time staff). Fira's location is the asset for couples who want to combine the honeymoon with a real island base, the morning farmer's market, the cable car down to the old port for the volcano boat, the local kafeneios, the bus connections to other villages. It is also the cheapest village to dine in (the cliff-edge restaurants in Oia run at twice the price of the same dishes in Fira's back streets). Aria is not the most-photographed honeymoon hotel on the island, and it does not aim to be. It is the right pick for the first-trip couple.

Best room to request

Aria Suite, the upper-level suite with private plunge pool and largest terrace.

Concierge tip

Walk down the cliff path to the old port at 7am for the volcano-boat departure; the route is empty before 9am. Eat dinner at Catch (a kitchen run by a former Athens chef) on the second night, under twenty euros per person, the best-value restaurant on the cliff.

The wider context

Aria Suites sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Santorini for a Honeymoon list. It scored an aggregate 9.3/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on a honeymoon-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same Santorini neighbourhood, see Fira, central Santorini and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.

If you have already chosen the dates, our editor recommends booking the room twelve weeks ahead. The best suites with the right view orientation go first, and inventory for the popular months is quoted in months, not weeks. Suite-level rooms with private plunge pools or terraces, the ones that earn this rank, are typically the first to sell out.

Frequently asked questions

Last updated May 15, 2026

Where is Aria Suites located in Santorini?
Fira, the capital, caldera-edge position on the cliff path, walking distance to Fira's restaurants and the cable car to the old port. Twenty minutes by car from Santorini Airport (JTR), thirty minutes from Oia. Fira gives you the central position with caldera sunset views; Oia gives you the village density but no nightlife after 10 pm.
How many suites does Aria Suites have?
Twenty-one suites across the cliff-built property, with the Honeymoon Suite and the Aria Sunset Suite as the two flagship accommodations, both with private plunge pools and direct caldera views.
Does Aria Suites have private plunge pools?
Eight of the 21 suites have private plunge pools, typically heated to 28, 30°C. The Honeymoon and Sunset suites are the most-requested; both face west for sunset orientation. Plunge pools at the other 13 suites are absent in favor of larger terrace footprints.
Is Aria Suites adults-only?
Aria Suites accepts guests aged 13+ in most suites; the Honeymoon Suite and Sunset Suite are effectively adults-only by design (single king bed, no rollaway). Confirm at booking, the property does not enforce a strict no-children policy but the configuration favors couples.
How does Aria Suites compare to Grace Hotel Santorini?
Grace Hotel (Auberge Collection) sits in Imerovigli, the quieter cliff village 15 minutes north of Fira, bigger property, full restaurant, larger pool deck. Aria Suites is more intimate, more central in Fira, and runs 30, 40% less per night for comparable caldera-view suites. For couples prioritizing the Santorini cliff-village experience, Imerovigli (Grace) is the more atmospheric choice; for couples wanting walkable nightlife, Fira (Aria) is better positioned.
