The Hotel

Adriana sits directly on Hvar Town's Obala Fabrika, the working harbour promenade where the Jadrolinija and Krilo catamarans dock, opposite the small chapel of St. Mark and a four-minute walk along the Riva from the main square (Pjaca) and the 1612 Hvar Theatre. The property is operated by Sunčani Hvar, the largest hotel operator on the island; the current Adriana opened in 2007 after a full reconstruction of an earlier hotel on the same plot, then was refurbished again in 2018 to lift it firmly to the five-star tier and to bring the rooftop seawater pool into year-round operation with retractable glazing and heating.

There are 59 rooms and suites across five floors. Categories begin at the Standard Premium rooms (around 22 square metres), step through the Marina Premium and the Deluxe Premium with full harbour views, and rise to the corner suites with private terraces. The Riva-facing rooms look out over the marina to the medieval citadel above Hvar Town and the Pakleni Islands beyond; the back rooms face the small Mandrać harbour and the old town's stone alleys. Materials are contemporary-Mediterranean rather than heritage: pale stone floors, walnut and white walls, marble bathrooms, and the consistent Adriatic-blue palette across linens. The 2018 refurbishment replaced every bathroom, added retractable glazing on the rooftop, and refined the in-room technology.

The rooftop is the proposition. The year-round seawater pool, heated to 28°C, glazed for shoulder-season swim, sits above the harbour and runs to the open Top Bar terrace, the city's most consistently busy sunset venue, with mixology from May through October. Butchery & Wine, on the ground floor, runs an aged-steak and Croatian-wine menu that has become Hvar Town's most reliable serious-dinner table. The Sensori Spa across two floors holds the largest indoor wellness space on the island, saunas, steam, treatment rooms, indoor seawater pool, with a programme that draws on Adriatic and Dalmatian-herb traditions. Service is Croatian-warm and well-trained; the front desk runs a strong restaurant and boat-day reservation list across Hvar Town's small handful of legitimate places.

The Adriana's proposition is the address. There are good hotels further out from Hvar Town, Maslina Resort outside Stari Grad most prominently, but for travellers who came to Hvar Town specifically for the harbour scene, the Pakleni Islands day trips, the Riva sunsets and the easy walk to the citadel, there is no other address in this category. The Riva-facing room with a balcony, breakfast on the terrace, and the rooftop pool at midday is, on balance, the most consistent five-star experience on the Croatian coast.
