The Inn at Beaver Creek

The Inn that started it all: the original 1980s ski-lodge under the Strawberry Park lift, modernised in stages but still the quietest forty-five rooms in the village.

The Hotel

The Inn at Beaver Creek is the older sibling property to the Osprey, the original 1980s ski-lodge on the Strawberry Park bench that opened with the resort itself. The building has been continuously upgraded across forty years, with the most recent major refurbishment completed in 2003 and detail-level room renovations occurring on a rolling basis since. The architecture is the original Beaver Creek European-mountain idiom: stone-and-timber gables, a peaked porte-cochere, an interior of pine boards and stone fireplaces designed to read more Tyrol than Tahoe.

The forty-five guestrooms run on the smaller side of contemporary North American resort standards, roughly 320 to 420 square feet across the Standard, Deluxe, and One-Bedroom Suite categories, with two Two-Bedroom Suites at the corners for larger family bookings. All rooms have gas fireplaces, mountain-view balconies or oversize windows, and the dark-timber furniture and Pendleton-style textiles that have become the Inn's signature. The bathrooms were refreshed in the 2003 cycle and have aged respectfully; this is not the marble-and-Carrara experience of the Park Hyatt next door, but a self-conscious ski-lodge aesthetic priced accordingly.

The Inn shares its slope-side terrace with the Osprey, which means the heated pool and the three slope-view hot tubs are accessible to guests of both properties, a useful flexibility on cold après-ski afternoons. There is no full-service restaurant inside the Inn itself; breakfast service operates in the lobby lounge from 7 to 10 each morning, and the village pedestrian path leads in three minutes to the Beaver Creek Chophouse, Splendido at the Chateau, and the Park Hyatt's 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill. The Inn's concierge holds priority reservations at all three.

The proposition is the proximity to the Strawberry Park Express lift at a price band well below the village-flagship hotels. The walk from the lobby to the chairlift queue is roughly ninety seconds, longer than the Osprey's forty seconds but a fraction of the village-walk required from most Beaver Creek hotels. For skiers who care about the first chair and are content to take dinner elsewhere, the Inn is the value position in Beaver Creek lodging.

Best Occasion Fit

Family Holiday

For families who care more about the lift queue than the lobby chandelier, the Inn's One- and Two-Bedroom Suites give a kitchenette and a separate living room at half the Park Hyatt's price point. The shared slope-side hot tubs are quieter than the larger village pools; the proximity to the children's ski-school meeting point at Centennial Express makes the morning logistics straightforward, and the in-room gas fireplaces are the right scene for an early-evening family meal.

Solo Retreat

The Inn's smaller scale and quieter lobby read as a private mountain inn for solo skiers who want the practical advantage of the chairlift across the path without the social density of a 200-room resort. The Standard King with stone fireplace and balcony is the right configuration; the village concourse is close enough for dinner and far enough to leave the room genuinely silent at night.
