Big Sky Resort's owned-and-operated flagship: 221 rooms, the Solace Spa, and the most useful slopeside studio-and-condo programme in the village.
"The biggest slopeside hotel in the village. Solace Spa, conference programme, and the largest condo selection of any Big Sky Resort property."
The Summit Hotel opened in 2002 as the contemporary expansion of the Big Sky Resort owned-hotel programme, built immediately adjacent to the original Huntley Lodge to give the Mountain Village a meaningful four-star option. The architecture sits at the larger end of mountain-modern: ten storeys, the tallest hotel in the Mountain Village, faced in dark timber and stone with a porte-cochere opening onto the resort's central pedestrian plaza. The hotel anchors the Yellowstone Conference Center, the largest meeting facility in the Big Sky valley, and is the home base for the resort's annual programme of conferences, retreats, and corporate events.
The 221 accommodations run across a deliberately diverse programme. Standard Two-Queen and King hotel rooms (roughly 380 square feet) anchor the entry category; Studio suites add a kitchenette and a living area for travellers who want to spread across a week; One-, Two-, and Three-Bedroom Condominium suites with full kitchens are the standard family booking. The Three-Bedroom Penthouse condos at the top of the tower run 1,800 square feet with corner-window views over the entire Mountain Village and Lone Peak. Every accommodation has a workspace, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and the in-room safes that distinguish the property from the older Huntley Lodge.
Solace Spa, the Mountain Village's dedicated spa facility, sits in the Summit and is shared with Huntley Lodge guests; ten treatment rooms, dual saunas, hot tubs, indoor and outdoor heated pools, and a fitness centre with a yoga programme. Peaks Restaurant on the lobby level serves as the resort's primary indoor dining room for non-Italian, non-resort-burger sit-down dinners. The Carabiner is the lobby bar, with a long evening programme of live music from December through April. The Yellowstone Conference Center attaches directly to the hotel and runs to roughly 27,000 square feet of meeting space, the largest in the region.
The slopeside position is the practical match for the Summit's broader offer. The Swift Current and Ramcharger lifts are a one-minute walk from the lobby; the ski-school meeting point is at the base of the building. For travellers who want a contemporary four-star room, a true spa, conference facilities, and the convenience of resort-direct booking and lift-ticket integration, the Summit is the practical default in Big Sky Mountain Village.
The Two-Bedroom and Three-Bedroom Condominium suites are the right configuration for family ski trips that want a full kitchen, separate sleeping arrangements for parents and children, and a slopeside address that places the children's ski school three minutes from the lobby. The shared indoor and outdoor pools, ice-skating, and resort programming cover the off-mountain hours; the resort's bowling alley, water park, and zip-line operate adjacent.
The attached Yellowstone Conference Center is the largest meeting venue in the region, with multiple breakout rooms, an auditorium, and a 3,500-square-foot ballroom for plenary sessions. The Summit's room category programme supports both senior executives (Penthouse condos) and large delegate groups (king hotel rooms in volume). The Bozeman Yellowstone International airport is an hour north with direct flights from most major US hubs.
Solace Spa is the largest dedicated spa in the Big Sky Resort programme outside of Spa Montage, with ten treatment rooms, a dedicated yoga and Pilates studio, and a sequence of heated pools that work for post-ski recovery. The high-altitude treatments are particularly useful for guests arriving from sea level; the daily yoga and Pilates classes run free for hotel guests.
