The Hotel

The Country Club Lima Hotel was built in 1927 by the British real-estate consortium that developed the surrounding San Isidro neighbourhood, at the time, an upmarket residential district being laid out south of the colonial centre on land that had previously been hacienda. The original building was a hotel-and-clubhouse hybrid attached to the Lima Country Club (the polo and golf institution still operating across the street); when the club separated from the hotel in 1950, the building was converted into a fully independent hotel. The colonial-revival architecture, wrought-iron balconies, broad central courtyard, stained-glass dome over the lobby, Andalusian-Moorish tilework, has been preserved almost intact through the property's nearly century of operation, which makes it the only standing example of pre-war colonial-revival hotel architecture in Peru.

The 83 keys are arranged across four floors around the central courtyard. The original room footprints have been preserved (most rooms are 32, 40 m², generous by 1927 standards, normal-to-small by 2026 ones), but every bathroom has been brought to a contemporary marble standard, every soft furnishing has been refreshed, and the technology backbone (WiFi, climate, lighting) is current. The Junior Suites and Deluxe Suites occupy the corner positions; the Country Club Suite is the period-furniture flagship in the original principal suite's footprint. The hotel joined Leading Hotels of the World in 2007 and remains the only standalone Peruvian LHW property.

Perroquet is the lobby-level restaurant, Peruvian high-end cuisine in the 1927 main dining room with the stained-glass dome overhead and the original silver service still in active use at the better tables. Bar Inglés (the English Bar) is the most considered hotel bar in Peru, a dark-wood institution holding 500-plus pisco vintages and the kind of trained barman corps that the rest of Lima can no longer find. Los Vitrales is the breakfast and afternoon-tea hall, named for the stained-glass running across its three-storey atrium. The Yaku Spa occupies the basement and has the strongest hotel spa programme in Lima.

San Isidro is Lima's residential-luxury district, embassies, the financial corridor along Avenida Javier Prado, and the city's strongest restaurant cluster on Camino Real. The Country Club hotel position, opposite the polo club, adjacent to Huaca Huallamarca and the Olive Grove, is the most considered hotel location in the district, with the Larcomar / Miraflores cliffside a 10-minute taxi south and the colonial Centro Histórico a 25-minute taxi north. The hotel is the obvious Lima base for diplomatic visits, business stays in San Isidro, and travelers who would rather have history than an ocean view.

Best Occasion Fit

Anniversary

A milestone anniversary in Lima at the Country Club hotel is a small ceremony, afternoon tea in Los Vitrales under the stained glass, a private booking at Bar Inglés before dinner, Perroquet with the silver service at the senior table. The Country Club Suite for a major milestone; a Junior Suite for the standard romantic anniversary. The 99-year-old building does milestone occasions instinctively.

Business

The Country Club is the favoured hotel of the Lima diplomatic and corporate corps. Position, three minutes from the San Isidro embassy cluster and the Javier Prado financial corridor, and the lobby tradition (the Bar Inglés is the city's most reliable late-meeting room) together make this the obvious San Isidro business address. The hotel's three private meeting rooms handle 8 to 80; the larger Salón Príncipe Felipe handles 100-plus.

Honeymoon

For Lima honeymoons that want history rather than the Pacific, the Country Club is the credible alternative to the Belmond Miraflores Park. The Country Club Suite, with the original principal-suite footprint and period furniture, is the central honeymoon booking, with breakfast in bed served on 1927 silver and the Yaku Spa couples' room for the afternoon.
