The Camp

Wadi Rum Night Luxury Camp sits inside the boundaries of the Wadi Rum Protected Area, around five miles into the desert from Rum Village and the Visitor Centre, with Jebel Khazali's sandstone wall as its eastern backdrop. The camp opened in 2017 under a private Jordanian operator licensed by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Wadi Rum is jointly managed by the ASEZA and the Jordan Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, and the camp's license is one of a tightly-restricted set the authorities have issued for fixed-installation accommodation inside the protected area. The headline product is the Full of Stars bubble: a transparent, climate-controlled inflated dome with a king bed pointed at a rear-wall stargazing panel, a private timber terrace, and an en-suite bathroom in a back-wall extension.

The property holds 25 keys in two categories. The Full of Stars bubbles (twelve units) are the headline product, fully transparent except for the bathroom extension, climate-controlled with electric heating against winter overnight lows (which routinely drop below zero in January) and a discreet venting system for the desert summer. The Bedouin Luxury Tents (thirteen units) are the more traditional alternative, opaque double-walled tents with king beds, hand-loomed regional textiles, an en-suite bathroom, and a private terrace facing the desert; the bubble guests still get the stars, the tent guests still get the privacy. Every key includes the camp's signature inclusion package: dinner, full Arab breakfast, and a thirty-minute camel ride at the edge of the camp at dawn.

Dining is buffet-style and shared, in a large central Bedouin tent that doubles as the camp's evening lounge. The signature event is the zarb, the traditional Bedouin underground-oven dinner where lamb, chicken and root vegetables are cooked for several hours in a sand-pit under hot coals, dug up and served on the evening of arrival. The dinner menu also covers mansaf (Jordan's national rice-and-lamb dish), maqluba, and a mezze table that rotates daily; breakfast is a continental-Arab buffet with fresh-baked flatbread, hummus, foul mudammas, eggs to order, and tea over an open fire. The camp is dry, alcohol can be brought in by guests, and the property runs cash-only on Jordanian dinars.

Excursions are the central reason most guests stay more than one night. The standard add-on is a half-day 4×4 jeep tour through the central Wadi Rum corridor, Khaz'ali Canyon, the Nabataean inscriptions, Burdah Rock Bridge, and the Lawrence of Arabia spring, typically run at sunrise or in the late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Longer guests book the full-day jeep tour, an evening sunset camel-trek to a separate viewing dune, or the rare overnight hike to Burdah Bridge with a Bedouin guide. The camp arranges all logistics directly with the local Zalabieh Bedouin tribe, which retains the operating rights to most of the Wadi Rum jeep and camel program. The camp is the standard second-night extension to a Petra trip; the canonical southern-Jordan three-night week is two nights in Wadi Musa plus one night in a bubble.

Best Occasion Fit

Honeymoon

For Jordan honeymoons the Wadi Rum Night Camp is the single most-requested booking. A Full of Stars bubble is the most photogenic honeymoon setting in the Middle East, a king bed pointed at a transparent wall onto the Milky Way over a UNESCO-protected desert, no other lights within a kilometre, the camel-ride dawn excursion as the first morning. The standard Jordan honeymoon week is three nights Petra plus one night Wadi Rum plus three nights Dead Sea.

Anniversary

For an anniversary built around a Jordan trip the Wadi Rum Camp adds the once-in-a-lifetime night that the rest of the trip would otherwise lack. The camp will arrange a private zarb dinner outside the main tent for two; the bubble's stargazing wall delivers the celebration-evening setting that no five-star resort in the country can replicate. The combination of a Petra anniversary night at the Mövenpick or Marriott plus a Wadi Rum bubble is the canonical Jordan-anniversary itinerary.

Wellness Retreat

For wellness-leaning travellers a Wadi Rum night functions as a one-night digital detox by default, the camp runs no WiFi, mobile signal inside the protected area is patchy, and the only evening activity is the open-fire dinner under the stars. The Bedouin Luxury Tents are the quieter choice; the sunrise camel ride and the post-dawn silence are the unwritten morning ritual. Guests routinely report this night as the most-remembered single evening of a longer Middle East trip.
