The Hotel

House of Jasmines is the country estancia that the American actor Robert Duvall and his Argentine wife Luciana Pedraza bought in the early 2000s and restored as a small Relais & Châteaux property. The original house dates to the late nineteenth century, a typical Andean-foothill rancher's main house, the kind that the surrounding La Merced Chica valley still holds in private hands across the wider salteño countryside. Duvall, who first came to northern Argentina through his marriage to Pedraza, took the property as a private residence and converted it into a small public hotel of eleven rooms in 2004. The hotel has been operated by the family throughout.

The eleven rooms are split across the original main house and an adjacent garden wing. The Classic Rooms are the entry category in the historic main house; Superior Rooms occupy the larger ground-floor corners with their own small terraces and direct garden access; the Premium Suites are the eastern wing's headline units with the strongest views to the Andean foothills. Every room is individually furnished, antique floors, hand-loomed wool textiles, restored ironwork, original Pedraza family pieces, and the property reads as a private country house rather than a hotel. The Relais & Châteaux signature is the relationship between the design and the place rather than any prevailing decorator look.

The food-and-beverage operation is honest country-house cooking. The restaurant, open to non-residents by reservation, but in practice mostly serving the in-house guest count, runs a single fixed daily menu drawn from the kitchen garden, the local salteño larder, and the family's own beef. The wine list is short but deep into Calchaquí and Mendoza producers, with proper depth on Don David, El Esteco, and the Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard expressions. The pool, the kitchen garden, the small horse barn, and the long network of estate walking paths are the practical infrastructure.

Service is the property's central proposition. The staff-to-room ratio is reportedly higher than any property in the Argentine north; the family ownership and the Relais & Châteaux discipline combine into a hotel that knows every guest by name within twelve hours of arrival. The verdict is that House of Jasmines is the most private hotel in the salteño countryside, the only Relais & Châteaux address in northern Argentina, and the natural booking for couples who want a country-estancia week within reach of Salta city's Andean drives but without the resort scale of the larger competitors.

Best Occasion Fit

Honeymoon

For Andean-foothill honeymoons the Premium Suite at the eastern end of the property is the central booking. The eleven-room scale, the private-estate atmosphere, the family ownership, and the single-table-dinner cadence make this the most intimate hotel in the Argentine north. Horseback riding through the estate, private chef's-garden lunches, and the country-house quiet are the daily rhythm.

Anniversary

A salteño anniversary at House of Jasmines reads as a long-quiet country week, the surrounding Andean foothills, the kitchen-garden cooking, the wine list deep into Calchaquí and Catena, the staff who learn the brief without being asked. Private dinners can be set up in the garden, on the terrace, or in the historic master room. The Relais & Châteaux dimension means that even quiet weeks are run at decorated-table standard.

Solo Retreat

For solo retreats in northern Argentina the eleven-room scale is the answer, the property runs comfortably for solo guests in a way that the larger resorts cannot. The walking paths across the twelve-hectare estate, the library, the kitchen-garden lunches, the horse barn, and the proximity to Salta city's Andean drives combine into the strongest solo-retreat brief in the north of the country.
