"Twin infinity pools on the 75th floor, Burj Khalifa over your right shoulder. Guinness, again."

The rooftop pool, in detail

SLS Dubai is a 75-storey tower in Business Bay with twin rooftop infinity pools on the top floor. The Guinness World Records line is highest outdoor overflow pool in the world, a narrower category than the Address Beach Resort's overall altitude record, but a real distinction. The hotel is operated by Ennismore as part of the SLS brand expansion and was designed by Bishop Design as the architectural lead.

Two pools on the 75th floor. The smaller infinity pool is the more intimate of the two and faces directly toward the Burj Khalifa across Business Bay. The larger pool is built for swimming. Both have infinity edges; the smaller pool's edge looks at the Burj at the closest angle of any rooftop pool in Dubai.

The deck includes both pools, Privilege rooftop bar and a small surrounding lounge area. Access for non-hotel guests is through the Privilege programme; the SLS rooftop is one of the more accessible high-altitude pools in Dubai.

The view

The Burj Khalifa is the dominant view from the smaller pool. From the larger pool, the view shifts to Business Bay and the Dubai Marina line. On a clear day Palm Jumeirah is visible to the west.

Which pool to use, and when

SLS Dubai's twin-pool layout means the choice between Burj view and Dubai skyline view is built into the deck. The smaller pool fills first during peak hours because of the Burj view; the larger pool is the right swim if you prefer a longer stroke and a less photographed angle. The deck is open from 6 am to 11 pm; non-resident Privilege access is from 10 am.

Best room to request

SLS Suite, 60th floor or above; the room view duplicates the larger pool's Dubai skyline view.

Concierge tip

The 6:30 am swim in the smaller infinity pool is the closest you will get to a private Burj Khalifa view. Privilege access does not start until 10 am, so the morning window is hotel-guest only.

The wider context

SLS Dubai ranks #5 on our Top 20 Rooftop Pool Hotels list and is one of three Dubai hotels on the list (alongside Address Beach Resort at #2 and Burj Al Arab Jumeirah at #8).
