"The 118th-floor pool at 490 metres. Currently the highest hotel swimming pool in the world."

The rooftop pool, in detail

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong occupies floors 102 to 118 of the International Commerce Centre tower in West Kowloon. The hotel swimming pool sits on the 118th floor at 490 metres above sea level, currently the highest hotel pool in the world by altitude. The hotel itself is the highest hotel in the world by floor count.

The pool is approximately 18 metres long, with the surrounding glass and a floor-to-ceiling LED ceiling installation that changes colour through the evening. The pool is heated year-round to 27 degrees Celsius. The dimensions are modest by global standards, but the altitude, the LED ceiling and the surrounding glass volume give the pool its distinct character.

The deck includes a small surrounding terrace, cabanas, and Tosca by Pino Lavarra (the property's Italian restaurant). The Ozone bar, on the same floor as the pool, is the highest bar in the world and a separate destination on its own. The pool is accessible only to hotel guests and residents.

The view

The view across Victoria Harbour from the pool reaches down to Hong Kong Island and Central. From the eastern edge you see Kowloon stretching north; from the southern edge you see Hong Kong Island and the Peak. The Star Ferry pier ferries are visible directly below.

Which room category to book

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong has 312 rooms across the 17-floor hotel occupation of the ICC tower. The Club Lounge access (Club Floor rooms and above) includes private breakfast on the 116th floor, which is a more interesting experience than the Italian-restaurant breakfast at Tosca. The pool is accessible to all room categories at the same hours.

Best room to request

Victoria Harbour Premier Room, 110th floor or above; the harbour view from the room itself is functionally equivalent to the pool view.

Concierge tip

Sunset is the recommended swim. The harbour ferries leaving Star Ferry are visible at 7 to 8 pm and the LED ceiling installation lights at dusk. Pair with a cocktail at Ozone after the swim, not before; the bar is busier and the pool is calmer.
