The Hotel

The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch opened in 2002 as the flagship of the Bachelor Gulch sub-development, a mid-mountain village reached only by the resort road that branches west off Beaver Creek's main approach. The architecture is the Great Camp idiom carried to its logical conclusion: heavy timber framing, river-rock chimneys, antler chandeliers in the lobby, leather-and-bear-fur-throw lounges around two- and three-story stone fireplaces. The 237 rooms run across five floors arranged around the central lobby and the slope-side pool deck, with the upper categories looking out across the valley to the Gore Range.

The accommodations are larger than the Beaver Creek average, with Standard Mountain View rooms at 540 square feet and the lower-end suites starting near 800. The Ritz-Carlton Suite, the Bachelor Suite, and the named Residential Suites add full kitchens, separate dining rooms, and slope-facing balconies; the largest of the residential units sleep eight and book entire ski seasons in advance for the Christmas-New Year holiday. Every room was refreshed in a 2021 renovation, the most extensive in the property's first two decades.

The 21,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa is the off-snow centrepiece, comprehensive in a way that few US ski-resort spas attempt: hot-and-cold plunge pools, Roman waterfall steam room, saunas, the slope-side outdoor heated pool, the year-round whirlpool, and a treatment menu running through fifty-plus rituals across massage, facial, body, and altitude-recovery work. The 24-hour fitness centre, Pilates and yoga studios, mountain-air therapy suite, and the curated manicure-pedicure salon round out the wellness programme. Forbes has graded the spa Five-Star eight years running.

Dining is anchored by Buffalos, the all-day American grill, and by WYLD, the property's signature Game Creek-style mountain-cuisine restaurant. Spago Beaver Creek, Wolfgang Puck's outpost, operates seasonally just steps from the lobby. The Ritz Kids programme is the most-developed children's offering at a Beaver Creek property, with full-day mountain camps included in the family rate packages. Ski-in/ski-out is the practical proposition: a private gondola from the lobby boot-warmer connects to the Bachelor Gulch Express lift in under three minutes. By Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond grading, the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch is the most-decorated lodging in the Vail Valley.

Best Occasion Fit

Honeymoon

For Colorado honeymoons that want the maximum mountain-luxury envelope, the Ritz-Carlton Suite (1,400 square feet, separate sitting room, gas fireplace, Daybreak Ridge views) is the central booking. The spa's couples synchronised seventy-five-minute Ritual of the Mountain treatment, the private outdoor pool deck at dusk, and dinner at WYLD round out the milestone weekend. The property's mid-mountain seclusion is the differentiator from the more village-oriented Beaver Creek hotels.

Anniversary

Anniversaries calibrate well across the Ritz-Carlton's room categories: a Mountain View room for a quiet weekend, a Bachelor Suite for a milestone year, the Presidential Residential Suite for a major one. The hotel handles full anniversary programming (private spa, in-room dining choreography, helicopter scenic flight to the Maroon Bells) as a single concierge brief, and has the longest documented anniversary-return rate of any Vail Valley property.

Wellness Retreat

The 21,000-square-foot spa is the proposition: Forbes Five-Star, eight consecutive years, with hot-and-cold plunge, Roman waterfall steam, slope-side heated pool, dedicated yoga and Pilates studios, and a fifty-deep treatment menu including altitude-recovery oxygen therapy. The Mountain Air Suite offers seventy-five-minute breathwork-and-meditation sessions paired with herbal teas; the Mountain Stone treatment is the property's most-requested ritual.
