The Viceroy sits in Nagi, on a ridge ten minutes northeast of Ubud town, above a quiet bend of the Petanu river that the family who owns the property has long called the Valley of the Kings. The hotel opened in 2004 as a small, owner-operated villa hotel and has remained at 25 keys since, even as Ubud's room inventory tripled around it.
